Ready? Set. Write! Week 2

Ready? Set. Write! is a way for writers to keep in touch with each other and keep themselves accountable to the goals they set. This year it's hosted by Katy Upperman, Alison Miller, Jamie Morrow,Erin Funk and Elodie Nowodazkij. Check out their blogs for more details and be sure to link up each week.

1). How I did on last week's goals.

1). Start and complete my newest novel BLANK SPACE, a YA contemporary - Yeah....about that goa. I revised what little I wrote last week and I did work around a plot issue I was having, but very few new words.
2). Read at least one book a week - Only had time for one book, The Moon and More, but it was the perfect book to start the summer with.
3). Finish Harry Potter book 4 and 5 by end of RSW - Really need to pick up book 4 again.
4). Continue with 21 Day Fix and work on becoming a Beach Body Coach - Finished up my second round of 21 day fix. Taking a break, though keeping with the healthy eating, and back at it after brother's wedding.
5). Keep up with my 25 before 35 - Slow going.
6). Get kiddo ready for soccer season - Kiddo has been doing workouts with me a few nights a week. Sign ups are this week.

2). My goal(s) for this week
Revisiting my writing goal. Instead of X amount of words a day/week I'm going to write at least 30 minutes a day. I also need to create a "list" for my main character. Read/listen to a few books. Keep going with the healthy eating. The longer I go the easier it is.

3). A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised
Standstill.

4). The biggest challenge I faced this week (ex. finding time to write).
Life. Too much to explain but sometimes it's a bitch.

5). Something I love about my WiP.
That it's about the best of friends despite their differences.

P.S. To everyone who commented last week THANK YOU for your encouraging words. I didn't get a chance to go back and reply to them.

I revised my writing goal this week too. I think a time goal versus a word count goal is a great thing. Because the fact is, you might not churn out a ton of words, but they might be really great words, you know? I'll take quality over quantity any day. Hope this is a much better week with much less sucky life stuff. (I hear you on that, btw.) Good luck this week, Mandie!

Life is a total bitch sometimes. Setting time goals rather than word count goals REALLY works for some people! *cheers you on* Also, yay beach body coaching! I just ordered shakeology from my friend who's a coach as well. SUPER looking forward to the shakes. I love T25 and have done P90X and Insanity, too. (Well, okay. Insanity I managed like...15 mins of a workout every time I tried LOL)

I have a friend who is a beach body coach and really enjoys it! I did PiYo last summer and loved it. I would have kept up with it if not for the pregnancy! The Moon and More is a great summer read. Might have to revisit it. Hope your week is better than the last.

Yay for getting through a plot issue!! Here's hoping the words will come more freely for you this week! I always say "Life gets in the way of life". Good luck on your goals this week!!!!!!!!!!!!! <-----Lots of exclamation points to help you :)

I switched to a time goal too. When the coming week is unpredictable or it's hard to nail down a task oriented goal, that seems like the best thing to do. Good luck with your goals, and I hope Life gives you a break this week! :)

Sometimes I find time goals so much better for me than word counts. Good luck this week!

Time goals really seem to work for a lot of people so I hope it works for you too! Good luck this week with all the goals! You can do it!

Oh one of my friends is just starting as a coach. She did the 21 day fix (extreme or something) and says she feels better now :) Maybe you guys are in the same FB group, that would be a small world.
And you can do it, Mandie and I really hope to read this book when you're done, so get going :) :) :) I usually work for a set time and then assess where I'm at. But when I do that, I put on Freedom and turn off my phone :) That has helped me a lot to focus on just writing.
Cheering you on!!!

I agree! I did much better with a time limit. Even used a stop watch to keep track. Paused every time I needed to stop. Thank you!

I've done p90 but it was years ago. I'm doing the 21 day fix extreme workouts and I just got the Brazilian butt lift one! Which shakeology? Love the vegan chocolate. Thank you!!

Life is a bitch sometimes... but you're always gathering fodder for future stories when Life does its thing (or at least, that's what I try to keep telling myself ;-) )

Book 4 is where I stopped reading Harry Potter too. I liked it enough; I just got too distracted and never went back to it. Hopefully you'll keep going.
