What's Up Wednesday: Ready? Set. WRITE! #5

What's Up Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Jamie Morrow and Erin Funk. A great way for readers and writers to keep up with each other. Thanks to tweets from Elodie Nowodazkij and Katy Upperman, I've joined in the fun of both What's Up Wednesday and Ready! Set. Write! (created by Alison Miller).

What I'm Reading

Over half-way through Ender's Game and LOVING it! Can't wait for the movie. I"m about a third of the way though What Happened to Goodbye. Love Sarah Dessen.
What I'm Writing

So I'm just shy of 4K words. I to be up to 7K but I've sidelined with a migraine. I decided (still not sure why) to stop drinking caffeine since the only thing it does is keep me from getting headaches and doesn't do much to keep me awake/wake me up. And...I've had withdrawal migraines since Saturday. Today isn't as bad so I think I'm almost over it. Then NO MORE CAFFEINE!!!!! Okay…that got away from the what I’ve been writing. But, hoping to get back on track this week and up my game to 1500 so I can finish July out with 25K.

What Inspires Me Right Now

Honestly....at the moment there's nothing because I haven't been writing. Normally it's music. And I need a good kick in the pants with it soon.
What Else I've Been Up To

When I haven't been lounging around due to migraine or rain (we've had 20 inces of rain in the past week!!!!! Oy!!!) I've been teaching kiddo the basics of soccer. I signed him up last week and we've been doing afternoon practices in the backyard. He can dribble!

Oh, I hate migraines! I've been battling sinus demons this week so I feel you pain. (literally)

I haven't read Enders Game, but I've heard great things about it. I'll have to add it to the pile.

Hope you have a great week! Get some new music cranking though your system and get those awesome words flowing! :)

Oh, gracious - I could not LIVE without my caffeine. I would be a very grumpy Alison. And I'd have a massive headache. I actually tried to give up caffeine several years ago and I had killer headaches and ended up retching in the faculty bathroom. Blech. So, caffeine stays. But good luck to you. I hope you can get through the migraines. :(

Also, yay for progress on the story! And good luck with meeting your goals! And yay for soccer! That's pretty much my life and I LOVE it!

Migraines are the worst. I hope yours pass soon! Good luck reaching 25k by the end of the month too ^_^

I didn't enjoy ENDER'S GAME as much as many others, which is why they're making a movie out of it. Not because I didn't fall in love with the novel (that's right, Hollywood's going to start making movies just to spite me. Not!), but because a lot of people loved it. You're in good company. To each their own!

All the best with trying to kick caffeine, Mandie. I drink a lot of tea (hot tea, that is--and strong hot tea, too), and periodically I'll go without for a day to make sure I'm not getting too dependent on it. Going without doesn't give me headaches (yet), but I definitely feel as if something's missing. :)

I hope you have a great, productive, migrane-free week!

I can't believe I've never read Ender's Game, I need to pick it up! I hope you're feeling better, I hate migraines, they really do wear you down and make it impossible to get anything done.

Sorry to hear about your migrains. I used to get really bad ones and know how much they can suck. Hopefully your cafine withdrawl will be over soon and you'll be able to get back to enjoying life. I totally loved both Enders Game and What Happened to Goodbye. So at least you have some great stories to read when your head isn't imploding.

I LOVE Ender's Game!!!!! I read it last year and really wish I had read it at 13 bc then I would have been a DIE HARD fan... I don't know how I feel about the author or the movie but the book is great. YAYYYY for progress on your story, Mandie! Keep it up!!

Ugh, withdrawal migraines are the worst! I can't do coffee at all anymore, and I'm even starting to move away from black teas and colas because of the caffeine. Good luck recovering!

Migraines are the WORST, but hopefully this change in habits will lead to fewer in the future. Good luck getting over the hump. I loved Ender's Game, too. What a great book.

Go away migraine, and go away rain! Kind of a bummer of a week. I hope you're feeling better and that sunny days are headed your way. Good luck with your writing in the coming week, Mandie!

I have a love-hate relationship with ENDER'S GAME. The author is a genius, but I hated what he did to Ender. The first time I read the book, I hated it so badly that I promised myself I'd never read it again. I've read it at least twice since then...lol.
I hope you get a chance to get back to your writing this week!
