TGIF {8}

TGIF is a fun post created by Ginger at GReads.  It’s to recap what you’ve posted about through the week and then Ginger asks a fun question.

Friday, Sept. 16th - Book Disappointments: Have you ever come across a book you were so stoked to read, but it failed miserably in your eyes?

There's a few books, not YA, that jump into mind. Red Riding Hood - it got on my nerves with all of the excessive descriptions. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - The book wasn't bad, it just took SO LONG to get to the good part of the story. I have the second in the series, but have yet to read it.

Honestly, I can't think of a YA books that has exactly failed miserably to me, but have let me down slightly. And with all three it's the endings. The first is Forever. I love this series, but I wanted more from the end. Even a page or two of an epilogue. The other two are amazing books, I love them, and if I had the next book in the series, I doubt I'd feel this way. They are Enclave and Delirium. Maybe I just shouldn't read these types of books until I have them all in my hands (like I did with The Hunger Games). Yeah, like that would happen. I know there has to be something to lead you into the next book, but I hate when the love interest is just left hanging. I need closure with them, leave another plot hole open.   Have I mentioned I'm a HUGE fan of happily ever after story endings? I know it's not reality, but...neither are these books. That's what I read for. No matter what happens, I want the people to come out okay. Otherwise, what's the point of reading, could just watch the news. Yes, a bit melodramatic. But seriously, loved the books, just wanted more at the end.

I'm with you on waiting till the series is done before I start reading. I think if I had started The Hunger Games before Mockingjay was written I would've been highly upset! And I'm in that spot now with Delirium...so ready for Pandemonium!

Did you not know Delirium was the first of a series before you read it? I love, love, LOVE that book & can't wait for the next. I know that ending was tough pill to swallow though. Ahhhh!!!!

Oh, I agree whole-heartedly that it would be best to wait until a series is complete, but I know that I'll never be able to do that. I'm just too impatient. :P And I liked Forever for the exact reason that you were disappointed...I like to be left wondering. I'm probably in the minority with that sentiment, though. :P

I know exactly what you mean! There have been a few books that were either stand-alones or the end of a series and I was just like, "come one! A little bit more of an ending would be nice." It has happened a few times and it makes me kind of sad to see a book I originally LOVED go down a few spots because of the ending.

I did know it was a series. I was Leary going into it, but fell on love with the book. Te end just crushed me (I can get a bit emotional). So excited for the next though!

I agree with you on "The girl with the dragon tattoo". I kept wondering when the action was going to finally start.

I can't think of a book off the top of my head that I was really excited to read but then it failed miserably, but I can think of a bunch of books I've picked up a the library that looked decent but ended up being not good at all. Two I can think of were: ENCHANTED IVY by Sarah Beth Durst and NEED by Carrie Jones. The first because it was boring to me for some reason--I just didn't connect with it, I guess. The second I enjoyed--sort of, but it seemed like there were plot holes/hard to buy fantasy elements.
