TGIF {3}

TGIF is a fun post created by Ginger at GReads.  It’s to recap what you’ve posted about through the week and then Ginger asks a fun question.

This weeks topic is a bookshelf tour.  Where do you keep your books at home? Are they organized?

My books (for the most part) are kept in the "computer room" or office.  My goal is to one day have a huge over-sized chair and walls full of books.  But right now I have two bookshelves (that I also store photo albums on).  I'd like to say they are organized, but they are not.

I really need another bookshelf (one shelf holds two rows), but that will come with time, these two are fairly new (I also have a bunch of books at my moms house, all mine from growing up...but shh...let's not remind her of this).  There's also a few books laying around the house.  I just like to see books out in the open.

I do have quit a few more books than what is here on the shelves b/c I own one of these...dun dun dun....

Yes...I own a kindle and I love it!  But I DO STILL BUY BOOKS (purchased Wintergirls this weekend at a certain bookstore)!  I am not a big fan of hard backs.  Never have been.  I get it from my dad.  He would always wait until the new John Grisham was out in paperback before purchasing.  They are just big, bulky and (to me) hard to read comfortably.  That's the reason I purchased my kindle.  So I can get books as soon as they come out without having to have them in hard back (I also live in a town that doesn't have the biggest selection at a certain bookstore, so this comes in handy).  Then I can buy it when it comes in paperback.  Now if it's a book I adore then yes, I will buy it in hardback so it can sit pretty on my shelf.

  3. I forgot to put a pic of my nook on my answer. Great idea to do that because it is like a ton of shelves only digital. Your books do look organized though. :) I dream of having a room with wall to wall shleves and books and a nice comfy chase too.

  6. I have a bookcase that I got at Target several months ago, and it holds two rows of books on each shelf. It's totally awesome! So that's where I keep lots of books, but I already filled it up. I also keep a row along the top of our TV hutch in our bedroom, and on the lower shelf of our bedside table. I've run out of room though. I plan to purge books as I read them so others can enjoy them too!

    No eReader yet. I like to hold a book in my hands, otherwise I don't feel like I really OWN it. But I can't knock something I haven't tried :).

  7. Thanks Books4Juliet. So funny we have the same one. And I might have to look into those skin protectors!

    Keriann...I was the SAME way before I got my Kindle. I love books and couldn't imagine not holding one or having them on my shelf. Anna Banks got and told me how much she loved it so I had to try. Now I do too. I still love books, and still buy them, but I no longer have to wait it our or buy in hard back.

  8. Your shelves aren't half bad. All of mine are double-dipped. AND stacked on top of the rows of books. AND did I mention I'm talking about two floor to ceiling book cases? I also have a Kindle, but these are pre-purchases. I do still like books though. If I can get the "Real life" one cheap, I'll probably still get it. I have a problem...

  9. Wow. That's a lot of books. Hope to have that many one day. And if the book is cheaper than kindle price I buy the book. :)
