March Reads 2016

I tried book blogging before...it didn't work out. I ramble too much. A few years I decided to post once a month with a small blurb about each book I read that month. It works better for me. So much so that I'm going to continue this year. You can click on any picture and it'll take you to the Goodreads page.

Still on a roll!!! Eight books this month!

The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma

All I can say is I need to read more of Nova's books. Holy wow that was good. Lyrical and mysterious and way more than I ever expected.

Love In B Minor by Elodie Nowodazkij

I just LOVE Elodie's books!! The characters are so real, the settings descriptive and the plots unputdownable. This one was no exception. Even more so because of the mystery that plays through the book.

Nemesis by Anna Banks

If you know me you know I'm not much of a fantasy reader. But WOW did I enjoy this one. I also sort of want to unfriend Anna because of how it ended. And that's okay, because I told her as well. Must read for sure.

Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

Was, is and most likely always will be my (first) favorite Dessen novel. Originally read this book in July 2011 so I knew it was time for a reread.

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

I've read a few of LHA's books and they've always left me with the same feeling. Such through provoking stories told beautifully. Wintergirls was compelling and, in my opinion, a must read for all teens.

In Real Life by Jessica Love

Read this book in one evening. Could not put it down. The characters were real and honest and entertaining. The scenes fast paced. Definitely a swoon worthy read.

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

Books like this are so terribly hard to rate.
Is it well written, yes. Is it a good story, no. But not because of how it's written but because of what it is. It's real life and sad and eye opening and stomach churning.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

This series! It's complicated and twisted but oh so good. Especially on audio book. I'm re-listening in anticipation of The Raven King release.

Currently...March 29, 2016

To keep up blogging I decided to join Katy Upperman in her CURRENTLY blog posting. Plan to do it every other Tuesday (you can see her original post here).

Loving...

That I'm on a reading streak!! I didn't start the year out great as far as reading goes but I am back at it.

Reading...

I finished up Nemesis by Anna Banks. And now I am in desperate NEED of the second book, which isn't even written yet. I also read Just Listen by Sarah Dessen (Favorite Dessen, it was a re-read), Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson (so compelling, must read for teens), In Real Life by Jessica Love (love love LOVED, such a great read) and Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott (so haunting and emotional). Currently I'm reading ALways Second Best by Elodie Nowodazkij and waiting for Summer Skin by Kirsty Eagar to arrive in the mail.

Watching...

Parks and Recs. And my normal every week TV shows (too many to list).

Thinking about...

My next book. It needs to happen, and soon. Now that vacation is over I can focus on it.

Wishing...

That I was back on vacation!

Making me happy...

Memories of spring break. Got to hang out with my brother and his finace, see where he works, go to our first Tampa Bay Lightening hockey game, relax.

What's currently making you happy?

Loving...

The GORGEOUS weather we have been having. The high is just around 80 with a sligh breeze and very little humidity. I hope it sticks.

Reading...

I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of Elodie Nowodazkij "Love in B Minor" (OUT TODAY) and tore through it in just a few days (work makes reading hard sometimes). I love Elodie's books. The characters are so real, the settings so descriptive and the plots unputdownable. Currently I'm reading Nemesis by Anna Banks. I'm just over half way and can't wait to pick it back up on my lunch break.

Watching...

Dance Academy. After seeing the Cinderella Ballet last week I wanted to watch all things dance. I'm currently in season 2. I've watched this show all the way through a few times and am still sad they didn't renew it for a forth season. I NEED to know how they all end up.

Thinking about...

SPRING BREAK!!! My son and I are going to visit my youngest brother in south Florida.

Wishing...

For the same thing as before....we shall see!

Making me happy...

The idea of only have three more work days until vacation!

What's currently making you happy?

Loving...

That my arm is no longer in a sling! I broke it back in January and got the ALL CLEAR last week. No restrictions...just have to work it out.

Reading...

I finished up The Superlatives Series by Jennifer Echols last night. And now I'm in need of a "where are they now" even though the series just came out. Next up is Nemesis by Anna Banks. I can't wait to dive into this one.

Watching...

Fuller House of course! Me and kiddo are 8 episodes in! And loving it. Brings back so many memories of my child hood. Kiddo wishes he could go back and watch Full House. I kind of do too.

Thinking about...

We won't talk about what I'm trying not to think about. Aside from that SPRING BREAK! My son and I are going to Tampa to visit my brother.

Wishing...

For something with all my might....that we won't jinx.

Making me happy...

Tropical Smoothie Avocolada. It is SO yummy. Avocado, pineapple, spinach, kale and coconut. I drank one and now I want another.
